Lovely place to visit. It is set in the Shropshire countryside, so it was peaceful and quiet with a nice old church and graveyard next to it. There was a couple of sheets with tasks on for my 7 year old daughter to do where she had to find different things around the castle and grounds, so she was happy and enjoyed herself. There is also a nice tearoom by the carpark with cakes, sandwiches and soup. My tuna mayo baguette was huge and very nice. I would recommend a visit.

Loved the ambience. From the church you could walk into before the castle, to standing up in the turret, overlooking the land, was an amazing experience. The audio guides were very informative. Well worth the visit.

Lovely, the audio guide was brilliant and for wildlife and avian enthusiasts, there's loads of nesting species there who are quite unperturbed by people. Lovely cafe and a nice play area for children too

Stokesay Castle. Medieval 13c house with some 17c additions. Still complete with roofs but lacking ceilings and plasterwork so some imagination needed. Shop and facilities. Also worth visiting the church next door, a rare example of a church (re)built in puritan times, with surviving box pews and painted wall inscriptions.

A very interesting castle/fortified manor house in Shropshire - not a massive property, definitely make use of the free audio guide to help bring the history of the building to life and understand what the different areas were used for - well worth a visit - car park was £4 and entry was £14 (May 2026)
