Tamworth Castle is a delightful little gem tucked away in the English countryside. Small, yet very old and well-preserved. A truly authentic Norman castle. The first fortification here was built in 781. A Viking attack in 874 destroyed it, and Æthelflæd, Queen of Mercia, rebuilt it in 914, but in 943 the Vikings captured and plundered it again. Later in the Middle Ages, the castle took on its current form. I recommend that fans of fantasy and bygone eras visit it; you’ll have a pleasant time, and from the top of the tower, there’s a view of the entire town and the ducks in the nearby river.

What a fantastic place! Only small but full of stuff. The small part of the Saxon Horde is especially worth seeing. Really enthusiastic staff who were a pleasure to talk too. Definitely worth a visit

I genuinely can’t believe this place wasn’t busier. It’s seeped in history and a good day out whether you’re a couple or a family you will spend maybe 2 hours looking around the tea room they have is quite small and limited but still has a selection of refreshments and some little souvenirs to take away I brought a little knight keyring.
