The Cartoon Museum is an independent charity dedicated to celebrating the art of cartoons, comics, and caricature. Located in London, the museum offers visitors a unique exploration of how cartoonists and caricaturists have reflected society, humor, and culture across centuries. The current exhibition, 'Does My Head Look Big in This? The Art of Portrait Caricature,' showcases the evolution of caricature from its origins in Renaissance Italy through the Golden Age of 18th-century England to modern-day practice, featuring works by renowned artists such as Gerald Scarfe, David Levine, and André Carrilho. The museum provides engaging programs for families, schools, and youth groups, including hands-on workshops inspired by the comics and cartoons in its collection. These educational experiences encourage visitors of all ages to understand and create their own cartoon art. The venue also hosts temporary exhibitions, competitions, and special events throughout the year, making it an engaging destination for both casual visitors and serious art enthusiasts. As a small independent organization receiving no public funding, the museum relies on donations, memberships, and visitor support. It offers venue hire for events and maintains an online shop for those interested in cartoon-related merchandise. The museum is accessible and welcoming to families seeking a fun, culturally enriching experience.

Definitely look into it before you go so you know if it's your cup of tea, but I loved it! The history of comics and satire is so interesting, and the British focus makes it great for understanding how that history impacted the country itself (as well as international connections like France and America, etc. as relevant). There are more modern comics too and staples like Star Trek, so there's plenty to explore. An annual pass is still worth it if you only go once, honestly.

Really lovely little gallery - an enjoyable visit. A nice mix of the pioneers from the 1800s and classic political cartoonists from the last 100 years. There was also a second exhibitions featuring classic comics

Really enjoyed this space. As someone who really enjoys animation and specially political cartoons this museum is very well curated. It takes you through the history of political cartoons and their evolutions and it is a great place for someone who genuinely enjoys either history politics or animation and specially all three. They also have a little room for drawings for kids which I felt was great. There's also a separate section of the future of cartoons focusing on Sci-Fi pulp magazines and comic books which was also interesting. Well worth a visit.

Excellent permanent collection, especially going back to the c18th political satires! Best are the temporary ones with names of characters/artists you know and many you look up after!! Great for connecting the dots 🤓
