We went on The Watercress Line as a family as I was visiting my Grandchildren from South Africa, and my son won tickets for his family. It was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The kids (aged 4 and 1) loved it as well. We packed a picnic, and just as well as most things were closed along the line. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to assist wherever possible. The only negative is there was nothing open after the Alresford station. It was a bit like visiting ghost towns. The little shop at Alresford had a few goods for sale, but definitely make sure to take everything you need with you.

Really enjoyed our trip to see the flying Scotsman at ropely station. Not been before but highly recommend it. There's a camp site adjacent to the station and catering. The viewing area is free to access and offers a great view of the whole station and yard.

I had booked and paid to attend the Easter train at the watercress line. Upon booking it said the staintions were filled with Easter activities for children to play with, Easter bunnies, and sing along trains. This is far from the truth and false advertising at its finest. We boarded at Alton at 12:50 when we arrived at Alton there was nothing to do it says it is filled with Easter activities when it is a few bits of paper on a table that has already been drawn on and a puzzle I have photos of this we was shocked at this from the get go. We then boarded the train to no activities, no decorations, no sing alongs no bunny completely different to described. We the arrived at Medstead and asked the man on the train if we get off now even though there seemed to be nothing at the station and when do we have to board the train to go to a next station he then very rudely said “get off now and a train will be here in 10 to take you back to Alton”. Because of this we did not get off as we had only been here for 5 minutes so did not intend on returning back. We then arrived at Ropley. On the map it advised Selfie Station, Minature Railway, Make your own Easter Ears and Bouncing Bunny or Chick, Find our Easter Bunny and collect your treat, Children's playground, Picnic Area, T-Junction llam-4.30pm and Viewing Galleries. We could not see any of this at the station so asked a member off staff then member off staff said “walk over the bridge and you will find stuff” most of the stuff described in as not there not once did we see an Easter bunny, there was nowhere to make anything yet again and we could not find any signs, no where to take selfies and we did not see a bunny giving out eggs and as for the train ride we took our 2 year old who would be unable to get on alone but the seats were not big enough for my partner to ride with her so she could not go on. All there was was 2 sets of building blocks chucked on the muddy grass floor, it advised a children’s playground but it is just a train with a slide and a gazebo with a water bowl with things floating baring in mind it was cold. We saw this and left immediately as it was not worth heading to the other 2 stations on the map considering that one was meant to be the best and got the train back to Alton which was a different train again no decorations, no music and no bunny’s and the toilets were out of use. So within 30 minutes we was back in our car heading home. All we heard all day was people complaining about the experience. This was an awful experience with nothing to do at all that is described no information, this was nothing like advertised we was left disappointed and upset we had wasted so much money and chose this as our Easter activity for the year and we spent more time commuting to Alton than we did at the so called experience.

A wonderful afternoon tea on the majestic flying Scotsman. Really delicious food and a good strong cup of tea. A lovely trip back to a more sophisticated era. As ever the staff at the Watercress Line were very welcoming and knowledgeable

We visited the Watercress line to go on the Flying Scotsman train. We booked the afternoon tea package and it was very good, the day was well planned and organised. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and we had a great time.
