What A Great Location In The Dark And With Its Rich History Dating Back To The 15TH Century. Townley Hall Is One Of Burnleys Historic Places In The Town . A Massive Area Great For Dog Walks
Haven’t visited since the restoration but what a gem! 600+ years of history with lots of exhibits including an Egyptian room. Best part were the Volunteer Guides-SO knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about their subject. One in every room more than happy to chat and impart that knowledge. Great visit!
Beautiful spot. Weather was good and the park area and grass parts around it were busy with families which was lovely to see -people were playing football and games and enjoying picnics. We didn't go inside the hall, prefer to enjoy the sun. We had a dog with us who also got plenty of space to walk. We paid £2 for all day parking. Definitely worth a visit.
This is a fabulous historic house set in a huge park. It is well ordered with very varied exhibits including a gallery of mainly Victorian art, an impressive old kitchen and lots relating to the Townley family. It has recently reopened and some of the house is still closed, and some of the artwork downstairs is not labeled. Hopefully those issues will soon be fixed. The guides were friendly and helpful and the whole place is a credit to Burnley Council who run it.
Museum not open on Monday or Tuesday, so just walked around the grounds which were lovely. Stopped at the cafe for tea and cake which was lovely. Lots of places to enjoy a picnic. Need to pay for parking.
