Our family of three had a group surf lesson yesterday with Frank. He was brilliant! He taught us about how to stay safe in the water, explained the boards and how they should be used and most importantly made everything really good fun. We all managed to catch lots of waves and had a great afternoon, despite the terrible weather. I’d definitely recommend it ❤️

We had a fantastic family lesson with Jack - he was fun, friendly and patient and absolutely brilliant with the kids. We were all total beginners but he had both kids up on their feet within minutes (same cannot quite be said for the adults!) and they were absolutely thrilled to catch a party wave at the end of the lesson. You've given us incredible family memories that will last a lifetime; I can't recommend highly enough. Brilliant experience.

Great series of lessons for my 13 year old ending in a lesson back in the line up. Great safe beach with attentive and considerate coaches. Thanks to the team to making a 13yr old confident in the line up and want to come back as soon as possible to Saunton for a surf.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolutely Incredible, Core-Memory-Making Experience! If you are looking for the absolute best surf school, look no further than Walking on Waves at Saunton Sands. I cannot recommend Jack and his team highly enough—they gave our family an experience we will truly never forget. First off, Jack, the owner, is utterly INCREDIBLE. He has such a brilliant rapport with children. My children are 5 and 7, and my youngest is not massively confident in the water (entirely my fault for over exuberantly ducking him too many times as a baby!). Yet, under Jack’s guidance, he emerged from the water like a Pegasus, completely shattering all my fears and absolutely surprising me! {A quick side note for the parents: It certainly doesn't hurt that Jack is practically a surfing demi-god, and his entire team looks like they walked straight off a movie set. Makes for a rather diverting session! Thank goodness for cold water!🤭} We started with a private two-person lesson for the children. The teaching was completely on point. They retained all the information, stayed perfectly safe, and absolutely loved every second of it. Saunton Sands provided the perfect beginner waves, and because the water was shallow enough that they were only taken out waist-deep, I felt super confident from a safety aspect. Jack was just so reassuring. Both of my children managed to stand up during their very first lesson! I was honestly so emotional watching them that I had to wipe away tears of pure pride. As for myself, I thought I was a bit of a *Cavalier Karen having surfed (admittedly unsuccessfully) 15 years ago while travelling. I decided to hire a board, lasted about 40 minutes (30 of which I spent paddling out when I could've walked!) Then getting buffeted by the waves cackling at myself. I eventually realised I was much better off watching the children! Seeing their joy radiating from the water was completely infectious, and I was just deliriously happy for them. Later in the week we then decided to do a triple private lesson—the two children and my now brought-back-down-to-earth self. And guess what? We ALL got up on our boards! I literally couldn't believe it. As a doughy 38-year-old lady, I didn't think I stood a hope, but how wrong I was! I felt like I was quite literally walking on waves!! Walking on Waves is amazing for all ages. They take children from ages 4 or 5, which is the youngest intake I’ve seen anywhere while looking around, and the youngsters are so well cared for, supported, and safe. This school would be amazing for families, holidaymakers, corporate events, and team building alike. It was just the best experience ever. I left feeling deliriously happy with new core memories locked in. Thank you, Jack!
