First time visiting Westway after climbing regularly for several years across London. Came with a friend to rope climb. The belay test was one of the most rigorous I've seen, great to see safety taken seriously. Staff were friendly and helpful. The climbing floor was a different story. Four climbers held 2 top-rope lines hostage from afternoon till closing. When they finally untied, we moved to tie in and they pressured us until we backed off, while they stood at the seating area, not even roped up. Didn’t get a single climb in on that wall. We’ve never seen this level of entitlement at any wall in London. Basic etiquette in sharing routes and not hogging walls is the norm everywhere else we’ve climbed. Great test standards mean nothing if the wall lets a handful of climbers gatekeep the routes so we can’t even climb them. Won't be returning until this is properly addressed.

One of the best climbing gyms in London . Has lead , top rope and bouldering . The grades are a bit stiff compared to other gyms but no too hard . The main lead wall is massive , there is 2 floors and 3 diffrent areas for bouldering .

The climbing centre is very fun. Especially the women powerboard social! Although not many girls attended last night, Maïssane was very helpful and taught me a lot of stuff to strengthen my bouldering skills. I hope the Women's PowerBoard social will keep going and I can continue joining from now on!!!🥳🥳🥳

Routesetting is thoughtful and varied in style. You will find that some routes can wander and the setting presents a lot of interesting side-ways movement/moves, which will challenge you if you are used to more “straight-up” climbs. The competition wall is a mighty overhanging lead wall and unique in its challenge and fun/fear factor! Grading isn’t soft. Ticks feel well earned. The Boulder walls are big and the problems tend towards being quite long and technical, although there is a small section dedicated to shorter “competition-style” problems. Massive slab and massive overhang area. The wall feels invested in, i.e. the bouldering and many of the roped wall panels have been rebuilt and (sadly for some) the old-school fiberglass feature walls have been replaced by modern plywood panels which look and climb great.

Great wall, with good resetting schedule and friendly staff. The gas-powered heaters are suboptimal. They are extremely powerful and don't seem to have any temperature cut-off. It's fairly unpleasant climbing anywhere near to them. Hopefully they will be replaced at some point or controlled so that they turn themselves off when the air temperature reaches 17/18 degrees.
