Visited as didnt know Whitstable had a castle, It is not a medieval fortress, but rather an elegant 18th-century manor house . You can join a free tour but I did not on this occasion. I liked the stone statues dotted around the area before the building and lovedI the beautiful but small and very lovingly looked after scenic rose garden with trellises , flowers and a gorgeous fountain, so peaceful. The tea room seems popular and you can also sit outside the Castle- both areas very peaceful. There is a Pirate themed playpark too which was busy with happy children enjoying. Come out on the hill and walk down the hill and through area to get a breathtaking view of Tankerton slopes beach and estuary.

Had my 60th Birthday Celebrations here on Saturday, it was such a Fabulous night. Kirsty and her team made my event perfect from the moment we made our enquiry to collecting my pressies and party bits the next day. If your even just thinking about using the Castle you won't be disappointed if you do. Just 5* Thank you Kirsty Arthur and everyone who made my night just amazing ❤️

Small, intimate? . Definitely small garden. Really nice for a stroll. Needs some upkeep in gardens but fascinating history. Not a historic castle but one self made mans home. Nice place for coffee and cake. Have to try Sunday lunch someday.

A lovley well maintained garden with intresting plants for dry conditions . Restored by Heritage lottery fund. Very good interpertion boards w ith history. How ever some are now unreadable and need replacement. The staff in the cafe were extreamly polite helpful and we had lovely sandwiches and panines. We missed the last tour inside and will be back to explore.

Charming building with a long history. The lovely gardens and house are maintained by very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable volunteers. The guided tour was very interesting and gave a great insight into local history. The tea room served delicious cakes and scones, and staff were very friendly. There are ample toilets, accessible paths to wander, and it's all for donations.
