Had a really good visit to Arnolfini Arts. The best thing is that it’s completely free to visit, which makes it a great place to pop into and have a look around without spending anything There’s some really great and vibrant quirky art throughout the galleries. A lot of the pieces are unusual and different, which makes it interesting because you never quite know what you’re going to see next. My favourite piece was Bear Hug by Jonathan Baldock. It’s a huge bear sculpture that visitors can actually cuddle, which I thought was such a cool and unusual idea. The bear is meant to explore ideas around comfort, care and being held, but it also has a slightly strange and unsettling feeling to it. I really liked how something that looks comforting can also feel a little mysterious. The face of the bear is actually based on a scan of the artist’s mother, which makes the artwork even more personal One thing I would recommend is visiting outside of the school holidays if you can. It can get quite loud with children around, which can make it difficult to properly look at the artwork and read the information beside each piece. That’s obviously nobody’s fault, but if you want a quieter and more relaxed experience, I’d definitely go during term time. Overall, a really interesting place to visit in Bristol, especially considering it’s free. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if you enjoy contemporary and quirky art.

We really enjoyed our visit and were excited to be there for the opening event of Mounira Al Solh "A Land as big as her skin." It was all amazing, very moving and a fabulous combination of mythology and humour.

It’s a few years since we were last in Bristol but I wanted to make sure I fitted in a trip to Arnolfini; it really is a beautiful space. Upstairs there’s all the local history re pioneers, famous people, trades and living conditions; downstairs is the exhibition by the amazing

It was a great venue for the event we attended here (Pixel Pioneers). Great audio visual, relatively comfortable seating, but such a great vibe. Visited the bookstore which has a great selection of indy magazines. Extra bonus were the lockers downstairs, which enabled us to enjoy exploring Bristol encumbered. The staff were super friendly too.
