House and traditional gardens set in tranquil countryside with tea room. Check opening times as not open everyday. This was our fifth visit to the walled and kitchen gardens. The walled garden, as the name suggests is enclosed by a brick wall on three sides, with an outbuilding on the fourth side, set with plant border, pond and lawn. A traditional tranquil space with architectural detail. Arches, doors and gravel paths to explore. My favourite area is the adjacent kitchen garden. Another large walled garden filled with a wide mix of traditional vegetables, fruits, trees, frames and greenhouses. It’s a working garden giving inspiration for growing produce; training plants along supporting frames and architectural arrangements to provide interest, separated with gravel paths. Every season is slightly different and definitely worth a visit at different times of the year. The tea room has temporarily moved to the orangery while restoration works are carried out on the outbuildings. Tasty selection of drinks and light snacks. We spent a couple of hours onsite looking at the gardens getting inspiration and enjoying the light refreshments. Gardens £ £10.

Hidden away in between the M2 & A20 this beautiful house and gardens is exceptionally well maintained. Current maintenence works block off some parts of the grounds but still worth a visit. Great volunteers to advise you on the rooms in the house

Better than your average NT property. Recommend a visit. Good cafe in/outdoor seating. Interesting guides illuminated the visit. Exceptional condition of preservation. A must if you like clocks!

Beautiful house. Peaceful gardens. Great café. Very friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and welcoming staff. The house interior was breathtaking. There's so much to see and take in. Astonishing collections. All in all a lovely day.
