July 2026. Stunning! Soft golden sand, shallow water to walk into and not too cold. Lifeguards keeping watch. Car park not cheap (about £8.50 for four hours). Free and clean toilets. Beach is huge so plenty of space. Very windy but a lovely and much needed warm wind. There is a cafe on the car park but the staff are very slow to serve. We had ice cream and my Whippy was OK.

We love bigbury, it's just a stunning place to visit, we found the parking payments and absolute nightmare though it took us about 30 minutes to pay to park because my signal kept dropping and I couldn't get into the WiFi. But even with the parking agro. Well worth the visit.

Expansive sandy beach connecting Bigbury-on-Sea and Burgh Island, with stunning views along the South Devon coast. Walking across to the island is a great way to spend an hour or so, with an exhilarating climb to the summit rewarded with fantastic views. The iconic bright white art deco hotel is a photogenic landmark, made famous by its connections to Agatha Christie. It featured in the Poirot mysteries "And Then There Were None" and "Evil Under the Sun". Accessing Bigbury Beach is easy, with a slipway leading down from a large paid parking area. At high tide, the unique sea tractor makes the crossing between Bigbury-on-Sea and Burgh Island, which tourists can experience for £2 (at time of writing). There are good options for refreshments, including a café overlooking the sea, and a coffee van on the beach at popular times. The beach has safe areas for swimming, thanks to its shallow incline, sheltered areas and RNLI on standby. There's plenty of space, and even in August it wasn't crowded.

Stunningly, one of Devon's most Beautiful and Glorious Beaches to go and visit and Explore the Beach. You can also go for a Long Walk over to the Adventurous Burgh Island and it's famous Hotel, where the Historical and very Popular Actor and Performer, stayed there. You can also take a Walk up the Challenging Hill and if You make it to the top, You are rewarded with the Stunning Sea view and Tranquil Serenity of Peace. Excellent Photograph Oppunity to record the moment. We had a really Great day out at Bigbury Beach and Burgh Island for our day out. This landscape is worth the visit! Burgh Island in is connected to the mainland at Bigbury-on-Sea by a tombolo, a sandbar or causeway that forms when waves deposit sand, effectively tying the island to the shore. This unique feature is submerged at high tide, making the island accessible on foot only during low tide or by using the island's famous sea tractor.
