Extremely disappointed with how my son was treated here. After making amazing progress with the trainee teachers last week and becoming an independent swimmer, he joined the crash course this week. He spent Monday to Wednesday successfully swimming lengths in the advanced group. Today, just 10 minutes before the end of the lesson, the instructor abruptly ordered him out of the pool and forced him to move to the beginners' class in front of everyone. It was handled with zero sensitivity and left my son deeply embarrassed and demoralized. If he wasn't ready for that level, why did it take three days to notice? Staff admitted it was a mistake on their part, yet my son was the one publicly punished for it. Instead of offering him support to help him progress, the teacher took the lazy option and leveled him down. We have paid for several full courses here and noticed a pattern: the qualified teachers show zero motivation and the kids make no progress. The only time the children actually learn is when trainee teachers are being tested. Paid, qualified instructors should have a higher standard of care and professionalism. This experience has completely crushed my son’s confidence. Avoid if you want your child to actually progress and feel supported.

First time in a public swimming baths for 20 years. Felt like stepping back in time - in a good way. Beautiful building, warm, clean water. Easy to park right outside. Bit spoiled by the loud music (do you need music in a swimming pool?). But the staff are fantastic. Listen to this: I realised my Mam's wedding ring (she died aged 94 a few months ago and I wore it on my little finger; it was a good enough fit, I thought) was missing when I got home. I rang the baths and they immediately searched the locker and vintage changing booth. I went back and they were lifting the drain covers, promised to check the filters and said they would scan the pool bottom. Got home again, and within an hour they had rung back and told me they had swum along the pool bottom and found it! Tremendous service. Just going back to collect it, and thank them warmly.

Beautiful building, lovely staff, clean facilities, but the music is unnecessary and really ruined the enjoyment to me. I don't think pop music enhances the experience. I asked if it could be turned off, they said they would turn it down but didn't.

Poorly ventilated pool area as there are chorline and urine fumes filling the air, which made me feel quite unwell during and after. The room is in a greenhouse so makes it additionally warm. Some might find this pleasant but I found it made the smell worse.

My daughters attend swimming lessons here. We drive about 20 minutes to get to this pool, it's not our local, but it is worth it I feel. The lessons are small groups, excellent teaching, affordable, easy to book onto, friendly staff and it's a nice pool with lots of history. The facilities are a bit retro but I like that, it has what you need and nothing you don't need. The coffee machine is great, once you work out how to use it. Parking in their dedicated carpark is a bit luck of the draw as it's not a big carpark, but it is quite easy to find street parking near enough to the baths. I'm happy to support it and hope it keeps running.
