Lovely view, castle was open and can go all the way up the top, lots of info boards. Short walk from the layby up a signposted track no need for navigation. Layby is between the castle and town, see photos

Very cool experience. You can get in the building and get to the roof. Walking there is a bit steep and watch ur step as a lot of sheep droppings. At the start you have to walk through someone's land but the owners are cool as long as you close both gates behind you. There is a lay-by about 3min walk from the entrance where u will have to park. Is a little Waterfall you walk past as well

Lovely little walk that we managed with a 2 year old and a 1 year old and at 33 weeks pregnant. Beautiful waterfall on the way up too. It was very windy when we went but it didnt spoil it for us. Just watch out for all the sheep poo

🏰 Castell Dolwyddelan sits on a rocky outcrop in the Lledr Valley announcing itself long before you reach it - the keep rising out of the hillside against open sky. One of the most atmospheric castle approaches in Wales. 👑 Built by Llywelyn the Great in the early 13th century to control the Snowdonia mountain passes - a Welsh fortress for a Welsh prince, not an English garrison. The history boards inside the keep tell that story well. 🏍️ The access track forms part of the Trans-Euro Trail making it a natural waypoint for adventure bikers cutting through North Wales. The green lane up is not technical - loose gravel. Light trail bikes are the right tool later for those less experienced. Heavier adventure bikes will find it a a bit of a challenge further down the TET route. 🥾 Not on a bike? Park in the lay-by on the A470 and walk up through the farm gate. Boots essential. 🕐 The keep interior is only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April to September. Exterior and grounds accessible any time. 💧 Look for the small waterfall on the path back down. 📍 Managed by Cadw. One of the least visited and most rewarding castles in North Wales.

You can't park here, google maps say there's a turn into here but you have to park in the layby a bit further on (or before it if coming tbe other way). You walk along the road a bit, then go through the farm gate (make sure you close it afterwards!). You then go through another gate where the path divides, go left a little bit, around 50 yards or so to see a small waterfall. Then go back on yourself up the other path, it's steep but not too bad to see the castle. It's only small but worth it, just be aware there is a lot of sheep poops! Well worth a quick visit.
