20th June 2026 A friend had come from Swindon to visit the Dinosaur exhibit at Hollytrees Museum. Whilst in the park we visited the Castle Museum. We certainly weren't disappointed, with so much to see & learn in there. Most definitely a must do if you're visiting Castle Park.

Colchester Castle park is beautiful. Will visit the castle soon. But the grounds are great, and I recently went to an event there. Indulged in an ice cream from the cafe. Yummy.

Wow! What an amazing piece of history! Definitely worth a visit to see all the knowledge on display for those of us who are interested in ancient Rome. The Romans ruled for 400 years!! So you can imagine as an occupying force they became well established. However when they left there technical knowledge went with them.

Castle is beautiful, but a very small area is open to visitors and if you want to see more, you have to pay extra for guided tours. I find this to be a bit of a rip off, considering that the ticket is expensive enough to start with. Staff were nice and the surrounding gardens and park are beautiful. However, I don't think it was worth the money and would not go back to visit the castle. Better to see the castle from the outside and enjoy the park, as that is free.

The Colchester castle is worth a visit if you are in the city. It has very rich history of pre AD. Many artifacts for your to look at and admire what went in the past.
