Obviously a great place to see for all the history but it is also a great place to meet friend an especially if you have children with lots of energy as there is plenty of open spaces to run around in. The Cafe was excellent food as well.

One of the most impressive historic building remains I’ve ever seen. The atmosphere, the deep valley of which it’s set in, a kind of peace but also creepiness. Fascinating example of an 1132 abbey in England.

Easy to spend an entire day at the incredible place. The ruins are fascinating, the royal park beautifully kept and lots of hidden gems throughout. Very dog friendly, albeit on lead. A couple of cafes, shop, water point for dogs, toilets etc. Ample parking even for larger campervans/motorhomes - and free even if not an NT member. You can access both the paid and free areas of the parkland from the two main car parks by the visitors centre.

Terrific - highly recommended. Fountains Abbey and the Studley Royal Gardens are terrific. The Abbey ruins are amazing - the scale is huge and full of historic atmosphere. To simply wander around is great. And the gardens were also great. Beautifully designed with many photogenic viewpoints. We had a good time - so peaceful and scenic. A World Heritage Site.

Wow, what a place! Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Gardens completely blew me away. The abbey ruins are absolutely stunning – huge, dramatic, and full of atmosphere. You can just wander around and lose yourself in the history. The gardens are gorgeous too – so beautifully designed with lakes, statues, little follies, and surprise viewpoints. Catching a glimpse of the abbey from across the water is like something out of a painting. We also spotted deer in the park which was a bit of a treat! Loads of walking routes to choose from, so you can do a quick wander or spend the whole day exploring. There’s also two good on-site cafes, one at the visitor centre, and one lakeside venue. There are also plenty of picnic spots if you bring your own. The whole place is spotless and really well looked after. This was one of the best days out I’ve had in ages – peaceful, scenic, and full of history. It is also a World Heritage Site to boot, so you are in for a treat!
