Visit websiteWe didn't go in the house but the gardens are superb and the cafe has some good lunches and cakes. There's a small train for rides along the riverbank and back, and launches for a trip on the river itself. Other attractions are the 'BearHouse' with an imaginative display of teddy's, and a really great display of dolls houses. There are good amenities for smaller children, too.
We exhibited at Tractor Fest. I believe that there was a record attendance this year, despite the weather . Yes we enjoyed our walk around the grounds on Friday. When the young grandkids visited Saturday they thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the train and river tours. Somewhere for all the family.
A truly glorious garden with formal boarders rockery exotic shady corners and a spectacular laburnum arch. All surrounded by beautiful rhododendron woodland. There is a fun miniature train and a slightly more sedate boat trip. Take a picnic to avoid the queues at the cafe there is plenty of seating dotted around. The gift shop was a bit underwhelming but the garden is a full day out and wonderfully maintained and beautiful to wander around.
Honestly, one of the best days out we’ve ever had. Newby Hall is just stunning, and it’s so much more than just a historic house. The gardens are absolutely packed with flowers, butterflies, and bumblebees—being surrounded by that much beauty really does make you feel good. There is so much for children to do. My daughter loved the little teddy bear picnic display and the boat ride along the river. The "choo-choo" miniature train was a massive highlight too! There’s also a great adventure park and a water fountain area where the kids can run in and out to cool off, which was amazing. The staff were incredibly accommodating. Since I had two young children with me, I was worried about a formal tour of the hall, but a lovely lady gave us a private tour so the kids could move at their own pace without any stress. It made the whole experience so much more relaxed and special. Between the house, the gardens, the boat, the train, and the great food and ice cream, it was a truly magical day. It’s perfect for letting the kids run free while you soak up the gorgeous surroundings. I can't recommend it enough!
Great place for a family visit, plenty for the kids, Miniature railway and canal boat ride (additional cost once in). Around £50.00 for a family day ticket. Great restaurant, cafe and ice creams on site. Fyi, there's a playable water sculpture that the kids can run into (bring towels and dry clothes if you kids enjoy getting wet). Good, large adventure play area, with paddle boats. Brilliant gardens with mature beds and tree planting to walk through. On site shop and plant nursery. Clean toilet facilities. wheel chair accessible areas. Can highly recommend.
