3 floors, 9 rooms of exhibitions. Absolutely incredible artwork on display here. Could spend hours looking. There is a cafe on the ground floor for hot drinks and cakes and a gift shop. It’s free entry and no booking required.
I don't know much about art, I just love it. I saw that they have a variety of different artist on display in addition to stationery art objects related to this galleries founder and history. I happened to walk in on an exhibition opening event, which had attracted hundreds of people. I'm not a crowds person, so I left prematurely 😁 But I'd like to point out what impressed me and made me want to go back often, - I was gifted the joy to see art produced in this Gallery by events specially orchestrated for children and clearly on a regular basis💖❣️😁 Also local and international artist exhibit their treasures for us visitors. It seems to be a well integrated, active gallery with interesting local, national and international frequently changing exhibitions. I thoroughly enjoyed my short visit and will go back soon to see the actual new exhibition 🤩❣️💖
Nice gallery - not that large so one hour or so is enough. Nice kite expo.
Sitting near the entrance of Swansea, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is a fantastic free space to explore and well worth a spot on your itinerary. The Venue & Accessibility: The building is an impressive mix of classic and modern architecture, complete with wide automatic power doors at the entrance and a helpful welcome desk directly in front. On-site facilities include a lovely cafe, a relaxed seating area, and very clean toilets. Just note that street parking directly outside is extremely limited. The Exhibits: The gallery isn't massive, meaning you can easily take everything in within an hour and a half. The displays have clear, informative text, and the staff are incredibly friendly if you want to ask questions. While the permanent art and pottery collections are rarely rotated, their temporary exhibition themes change regularly throughout the year—it's definitely worth checking their website before you go to see what’s on! Verdict: It's completely FREE to enter, highly accessible, and a great way to spend a morning or afternoon in the city.
Beautiful building but the ground floor was a disappointment. Café not open and the two viewing rooms there shouldn’t be open to the public at the moment. One had tables in front of the pictures, some of which weren’t labelled and the second room looked like a storeroom! The permanent exhibition is lovely and well worth a visit. However, more information about the artist would be beneficial rather than just their names, dates and title of picture. Undoubtedly the gallery needs more funding, it must cost a fortune to heat. It would be a beautiful place for wider exhibitions.
