Golden Valley Llamas

Ewyas Harold, United Kingdom•5(25)•Farm

Experience a peaceful farm-stay break in Herefordshire with holiday cottages on a working llama farm, where families can meet the herd and explore ten acres of woodland and countryside.

Old King Street Farm is a llama farm and holiday cottage venue located in the Golden Valley of Herefordshire, just twelve miles from Hereford and Abergavenny on the Welsh border. The property offers two beautifully restored barn conversion cottages—Pomona Cottage (sleeps 4, four-star rated) and The Cider House (sleeps 2, five-star rated)—which can be interconnected to accommodate up to six guests. Both cottages feature a blend of original 18th-century character with modern amenities, including underfloor heating, contemporary bathrooms, and spacious, stylish interiors. Guests have exclusive access to the ten-acre farm estate, featuring woodland, a lake, stream, and a herd of fifteen llamas. While the llamas have retired from commercial trekking operations, visitors staying at the cottages are welcome to meet the animals and enjoy the peaceful countryside setting. The location offers easy access to two nearby country pubs and a village shop. The farm is ideal for families seeking a relaxing rural getaway with the opportunity to interact with animals and explore the natural beauty of the Herefordshire and Welsh border landscape, including nearby Black Mountains excursions.

Highly, highly recommend. We have stayed at Pomona Cottage many times over 16 years and I can’t praise it enough. The cottage is well appointed and the surrounding countryside breathtaking. Robert and Amanda are amazing hosts. The llamas are beautiful too!

Llama trekking undersells it, Llama experience is more like it! You get to spend time with the llamas, groom them, bond a bit and then go on a trek. Robert is a really friendly host, knows so much about keeping llamas and clearly very passionate about them. The trek was a lovely long walk up to the common, around and back and lasted well over an hour. Not rushed for time at all. The llamas are really well trained, easy going and super friendly. They are full of individual character and let you into their herd. Even after the walk we spent more time with them as they came back into the herd and didn’t feel like we were ever rushed. Also bookings are never shared so you get full interaction with the animals throughout. Cannot recommend the experience or host enough.

Lovely and friendly, it's evident how much they love their llamas! They also sell their homemade wares including rugs which are extremely well priced especially given all the work that goes into the production.

Highly recommend Golden Valley Llamas! We had the most wonderful experience grooming, feeding and walking the llamas under Robert’s excellent tuition. Such beautiful and friendly animals. We can’t wait to visit again
