Beautiful beach, first visit, wont be my last. Beach shoes only required to get past the big pebbles, then gorgeous soft sand and clear water
Absolutely stunning beach with a lovely friendly coffee room inside Connaught Gardens with beach views. There is a steep slope down to the beach but completely worth it. Amazing rock pools for the children to forage amongst as well as lots of sand. Surrounded by the gorgeous red cliffs. Fantastic little beach.
A lovely pebble beach set beneath striking red sandstone cliffs, creating a beautiful and dramatic setting. It’s worth noting that the cliffs can be unstable—during our visit, there were a couple of areas where sections had collapsed. As long as you avoid those areas and follow any safety advice, there’s still plenty of beach to enjoy. At the far end of the beach is the historic Grade II-listed Jacob’s Ladder. Unfortunately, both the steps and the small takeaway café at the top were surrounded by scaffolding during our visit, so we weren’t able to climb them. There is parking nearby, although I imagine it fills up quickly during busy periods. Overall, it’s a lovely beach with stunning scenery and well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Large shingle beach with sandy areas revealed at low tide, situated at the foot of dramatic red sandstone cliffs that experience frequent landslips. The beach's shallow incline and sheltered setting make it good for bathing, with the cliffs and stacks at Ladram Bay providing a stunning backdrop. There's plenty to do nearby, with a well placed café at the Clock Tower, the beautifully kept Connaught Gardens and Sidmouth esplanade all within a few minutes walk. Paid parking is available within 15 minutes walk, but it can get busy in summer, so it's advisable to arrive earlier in the morning to find a space.
Pebble beach surrounded by red soil cliffs, which are extremely dangerous at times due to rock falls. However, the east end of the beach is safe. Gentle slope into the sea, with a beautiful feeling of the Mediterranean or even Lake Como. Warm water in Summer too. Our visit was wonderful and we felt as though we were on holiday despite living only six miles away. Clock Tower Cafe is up some steep steps/ladder at the far east end, past the beach huts. A thoroughly enjoyable time here early morning but beware that it may get extremely busy at times. A fantastic beach however!
