The house is presented in a reverent, informative style by devoted staff. It was easy to feel a connection to the quiet life Jane Austen experienced here as she perfected her amazing novels.

Book ahead and get scones in the pub across the road. The ticket is valid for 1 year. There are a few furniture items and a ring and letters of Jane’s. The garden is lovely. They found wall paper scraps in closets from Jane’s time in the house and re-created it to adorn the walls inside. We have also been to the house Jane died in and her place of rest in Winchester Cathedral as well as her house in Bath (less impressive than this one).

A trip back in time. Good feeling walking around. The house still keeps most of the old times frame. I did love the floor and the bedroom. Walkable around with wheelchairs except the first floor. The best in all is that the ticket it is usable for a year. The village has beautiful houses. Good place to visit ♥️

Amazing place and worth revisiting! I was here a couple of years ago, but there are a few new attractions, so it was not boring at all. There is a nearby cemetery (8 min from the house on foot) with the tomb of Jane Austin's mother and sister Cassandra, and the Chawton House (home of the brother) has an amazing tearoom that must have been the old kitchen of the house. The staff is also very nice.

We had the opportunity to visit one of the greatest English novelist Jane Austen It was wonderful experience to learn more about her life and to see her house and the belongings she left behind. It truly feels like stepping into Jane Austen’s world. The house is charming, thoughtfully presented and full of characters. It’s so nice that this place exists to honor the author and her contributions. Highly recommend to visit!
