This is a super little venue for younger kids. I took my grandson on recommendation from a friend. At 7yr old he loves different animals & a Barrie’s selected not disappoint. I don’t like zoos but this small educational venue has opened my eyes. Students are volunteering having studied or still are in situ. And it doesn’t smell stinky animals are protected yet in similar habits much as possible. I will return whenever my grandson requests (prices are also affordable m. Plenty parking. Take a picnic, only snacks, drinks & ices available. A lovely day.

We’ve visited here a few times over the past few years. Yesterday we went as there was an offer on Groupon we thought we’d make use of during the holidays. I’d say if you stretched it, you could spend up to 2 hours here, but after seeing all the animals and playing in the park, we were there an hour and a half. They do have different things going on throughout the day like a wallaby walk, meerkat talk and you can see the mini beasts, for example. We’ve always done the wallaby walk. All the animals seem really cared for and happy. In spring we also did a lambing experience which was good for our daughter.

Always a favourite day out of ours. The staff are very knowledgeable and welcome questions about the animals who they evidently love. The zoo is small, but there is an interesting range of animals

Really nice small zoo for a good entry price. Great days out and good for all ages. Lots of nice talks to learn more about the animals cared for. There is a diverse range and the stuff are generally knowledgeable. Found a weekend in term time to be quieter than school holidays however the layout of the site means it's not too crowded. Was surprised of the amount of animals, more publicity is definitely needed to raise the profile. I didn't travel by bus but noticed that the 777 from Morpeth to Kingston park goes past the entrance which would be helpful for many people.
