Had a nice visit to Compton Castle today. There isnt a lot to see and I do personally think if youre not national trust members, it is a little expensive to pay in comparison to how much of the Castle you can see. The Castle is occupied so only a couple of rooms are available to the public. However the staff were really lovely and the garden was pretty.
Very interesting place to visit, lots of history, some of the guides dressed up in Tudor costumes, on carpark on site but you can park at the café at the bottom of the driveway, and that's very quaint, roads narrow leading to it,
An old house modified to look like a castle/fort to protect it, from back in the day. An interesting house and a little chapel, there is not alot to see, as a family still occupy most of it. A nice garden, but have seen better, some of it is closed off for the family. A good little cafe opposite, up some steps where we parked. We tried the soup and half a cream tea each, which was lovely and not too pricy. It had a garden area outside to enjoy the views and sun (if any)!
Much smaller than I had expected but even so provided a little peak in to history and something for my partner and I to do on the last day of our trip to the Torquay area. The staff were friendly and very knowledgable plus the gardens were very pretty and overall well maintained.
Fantastic historical castle. The building is only open on certain days due to residency. There is plenty to see and informative leaflets in certain areas. Children love the dressing up room, trail and the games around the grounds. There is no parking on site but a carpark just across the road where you can also find food.
