Well worth the cost of the ferry ( small boat ). You can camp overnight i reckon it might get a bit breezy though there are toilets and showers . You can get beer and food on the island we tried it it was pretty good . The castle itself is quite impressive considering it's age and location. A very nice place to spend a day on when the weather is good 👍
Lovely day over on Piel Island, castle, pub and tranquility. Even saw some seals. £7 return on the ferry.
An intriguing little island off the Barrow and Roa coastline. Has its own King, who serves good, cold beverages and BBQ style food. The ferry was fun too, with the ferryman's stories being a highlight.
Passenge ferry was £7 return to see the King of Piel😉, the Ship Inn (great beers) and Piel Castle (English Heritage: free). Camping available at £5 per night ( with toilets) Had a nice walk around the island.
Fantastic other worldly feeling place. Amazing estuary views. The castle ruins are the largest in the NWest. Well worth a look. If you are really naughty you can sneak inside thu a window. Well worth it. Pub is gem and had real ale. £7 each payment in cash on the boat. Departure lounge a seat by the slipway. Runs hourly.
