Absolutely amazing place! We loved it, not as commercialised as other places and that is a really good thing! It's stunning both inside and out. We also had a really spooky experience! Walking through the wooded area towards the Sundial garden, we were followed. Out of the corner of our eye we noticed someone behind us, stopping and turning expecting a person or people to pass us, there was nobody there, just an ice cold wind and some leaves swirling around in just one spot than moved upwards! The day was red hot with no wind whatsoever!! Never seen anything like that before. The bird display was also excellent and the staff all cared. We also had the honour of meeting the good Lady of the house and her gorgeous dog on the way out, absolutely delightful all round. Thank you to the good Lady and her family for allowing us to visit. We will be back for sure.

A lovely place to visit, the grounds are lovely with great views of the fells. Very interesting history. The birds of prey flights also interesting and informative. There is a bit of a trek from the gate to the castle though. It would be nice to have benches along the path or buggies for people with walking issues.

Booked online Saturday evening for today. We arrived 10 mins before opening and parked opposite the main gate. Parking was FREE, We walked through the main gate an followed the path down to the Ticket office. Scanned our tickets a picked up a site map. Behind the Ticket office there are toilets that were very clean. 11.30 was the 1st Owl display so we headed to the stables for breakfast. Would highly recommend the full English, excellent quality as was the Fresh ground coffee. Service was also excellent so a big thankyou to the very accomplished chef and the servers. We when went to the Owl display and what an amazing time we had there as the birds were nearly touching our heads as they flew past a truly amazing display. We then ventured to look around the Castle, for £5.45 per person you can look through around 12 furnished rooms from the entrance there is so much to see in would allocate a good hour to take it all in, on this occasion we didn't venture in as we were heading to the weapons Hall. We threw axes tried archery and crossbows all with instructions from qualified friendly helpfull staff. This was a must do activity if your coming to Muncaster Castle we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the weapons room. So a big thankyou to everyone there wevwill be returning to try our luck in hitting the apple. 2pm was the next show which we went to watch various birds of prey again flying above our heads. This was also a great show with a very knowledgeable Compare giving an indepth talk on the birds they were flying. All in all Muncaster castle has something for everyone and for the entrance price it represents extremely good value for money. Onsite there are toilets and a few gift shops plus the stables coffee shop and restraunt if you watch the late show at 4pm you could easily spend over 6 hours here. We will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Muncaster Castle for an amazing day out.

Not your average Stately Home. There's so much to do. I particularly enjoyed The Weapons Hall which included axe throwing, archery and crossbows all inclusive of the entrance price. Plus two birds of prey displays. Plus stunning views and of course the friendly staff. Thank you

We have just spent the weekend at Muncaster Castle, wow what an amazing place! The location is within stunning scenery and the castle is beautiful. We attended all of the bird flying displays which were fantastic and really interesting, the best we’ve seen! The grounds of the castle are simply stunning, so many flowering trees in various colours. Inside the castle was very interesting with various rooms open to explore and the staff were very knowledgeable, explaining the history. A free audio guide was also available to listen to via your own phone as you walk around. The food at stables cafe was delicious and reasonably priced with great service. There was so much to see and do and we were lucky with fantastic weather for April. We didn't get time to see the weapons hall because we enjoyed the bird displays so much we went to all 3 throughout the day. Overall a fantastic visit we would highly recommend and we would love to come back again and explore more of the grounds.
