We had the pleasure of visiting the Red House over the weekend - what a slice of quintessentially English heaven hidden in the centre of Christchurch. We’ve lived here for so long and had no idea this walled garden existed. The volunteers who work there made us feel so welcome even to the extent of showing us around the rose garden that is beautifully tended and has many rare specimens. Tranquil and well cared for made it an absolute pleasure to walk around. We finished our experience with an ice cream sat in there courtyard - Fabulous - highly recommend it

Brilliant small museum with lovely friendly welcome. There are wide ranging displays indoors and a pretty garden with... DINOSAURS! The building itself is really interesting and the exhibitions are always good. Currently the exhibition is structured around aerial photographs of the Christchurch area and is really interesting. The cafe is small but excellent with a great choice of cakes and it is very reasonably priced! A real asset for Christchurch.

A lovely little spot. I take my four year-old daughter here occasionally as they do some nice seasonal activities and she also loves looking around the gardens to find the dinosaurs. The gardens are starting to look beautiful too so we will go back in summer to see all the flowers in bloom. They’ve obviously been working really hard to spruce them up over winter.

Great fun today with our 3 year old who had a brilliant time doodling at the Red House. She really enjoyed the quiz which took us around all the children’s parts of the museum . We played with the dolls house, she did dressing up and provided other children with items from the play cafe . We even met the 12 dinosaurs 🦖 in the gardens 🥹lovely staff and fabulous coffee. A really lovely place to spend time with our granddaughter I highly recommend the whole experience .

Really enjoyed my visit here. It has something for everyone including dinosaurs in the garden for the young and young at heart. It is located in an old building that used to be the workhouse. It covers the history of the local area from the ice age to present day. I particularly liked the photographs where I could recognise areas ,appreciating how much they've changed. It really has something for everyone, including a cafe selling delicious cakes. When I visited there was an art exhibition showing an artist with a wide skill set. Like so much it was made all the more special by the friendly and helpful volunteers. A really great community resource.
