Red House Mysteries Escape Rooms

Exeter, United Kingdom•4.8(261)•Escape Room

Solve immersive mystery puzzles across three themed escape rooms set in a 1940s detective office, Cold War laboratory, and high-security casino heist.

Red House Mysteries offers three intense, narrative-driven escape room experiences in Exeter, each designed for teams of 2 to 7 players with a 60-minute time limit. Players must follow the story, solve riddles, use props strategically, and uncover secrets to escape before the timer runs out. The three distinct missions include The Shadow Darkens (a 1940s noir detective mystery with an 80% escape rate), The Danziger Experiment (a Cold War sci-fi scenario set in an abandoned 1981 East Berlin laboratory), and The Queen of Diamonds Heist (an adventure-themed game requiring teams to crack codes and bypass security systems to steal a prized diamond). Suited to families, couples, stag parties, birthday groups, and office team-building events, the rooms are praised for their immersive atmospheres, high-quality props, and believable settings that transport players into different eras. The venue is dog-friendly and conveniently located near pubs and restaurants on King Street in Exeter. All rooms are medium difficulty or medium/hard, making them accessible to first-time players while still providing a genuine challenge. Gift vouchers are available for those seeking unique present ideas.

This was our second visit to Red House Mysteries in Exeter and we all really enjoyed it. The game we played this time was very engaging and the right level of challenge. The puzzles required thought to solve, but we were always able to make progress (with a couple of small hints!) without feeling like we were completely stuck. The room and props were an excellent fit for the story and time period and made the game feel very immersive. Would definitely recommend, and we're already thinking about going back for their other game that we've not yet played.

I took my wife for her birthday on the weekend. It wasn't too hard to find as it was sogn posted on the street, and once you go in, you head upstairs. There are toilets at the downstairs entrance. The decor was really nice, like an old theatre. The chaps at the desk, Charlie, was really nice, helpful and explained everything really well. The room we went in was a 1940s private eye. I shall not explain further, but the room was exceptionally made with several points which were enthralling. Highly recommend this company.

Was a lot of fun. Some of it was broken due to people being silly. So we were a little too gentle in places that hurt our time. We made it in the end. The puzzles were good fun. I would go back for the other one. We did the detective one that had a good story too it.

Fantastic experience - first escape room and we really were not disappointed at all - 2 of us in the room and we managed to complete it but only just. Angel is an amazing and funny host, sarcasm was on point and thoroughly enjoyed. Friendly, welcoming and well priced. Would definitely go again to try the other room.
