Lovely sandy beach. Ideal for a day out with the kids. The more ambitious might like the cliff top walks and to discover the history of the Alum industry.

We parked on the road, at the top of the hill, and waited for the tide to go out. And the weather to go over, before we descended the cliff path down to the dog friendly beach, with fresh drinking water running through it from various streams. We walked to the slipway at Whitby, then conti used along the promenade to the pier. The beach is mostly sand, with some rocky relief, and is backed by cliffs. I would recommend.

Love this place, holds many memories as a kid playing in the stream and rock pooling. Got engaged here in April and have just been for another visit and still as beautiful as ever! Also found a cool piece of an old ginger beer bottle right on the shore.

Lovely big stretch of sand and stones, perfect for the dogs when the tide is out. Lots of parking on the main road and a car park, can imagine it gets very busy in the summer. There was some decent sized waves coming in and some people out surfing as well, nice place!
