Lovely quiet village with lots of gem shops and scenic views, worth going for a walk. Be mindful of steep stone roads with staircases by the road.

Robin Hoods Bay is full of winding cobbled streets and cute picturesque cottages. There are shops, cafes and pubs leading down a steep hill that takes you to the beach. There's two main car parks at the top of the hill and off the roundabout to the right are public toilets, 40p payment with card and toilets at the bottom of the village. Buses run regularly to and from the village. Explore the alleyways and discover a bookshop, clothes shops quirky cottages and great views of the bay.

Beautiful clean beach, absolute hidden gem! Quiet and peaceful, a far cry from the crowds at Whitby. To visit you are restricted to parking at the top of the hill, so access to the beach is not for the faint hearted but well worth it. A 10 minute walk down through the small seaside town with interesting shops and cafes to get a bite to eat. Excellent fossil shop too on the way dow. A mixture of beautiful sandy patches and rocks to explore, perfect for families and a great little cafe on the front too to get drinks, snacks and delicious homemade doughnuts. Lots of people hunting for fossils too!

We spent a fascinating day exploring Robin Hood’s Bay and the surrounding coastline. The highlight was definitely navigating the maze of incredibly narrow passageways tucked between the houses—it was so much fun squeezing through these hidden routes and seeing where they led! It is a place with a unique atmosphere, especially when you learn about its history as an 18th-century smuggling hub. Apparently, the network of alleys and cellars was so complex that contraband could be moved from the sea to the top of the cliff without ever being seen on the main street. A brilliant place to spend the day, whether you’re walking along the beach or getting 'lost' in the historic streets. It really feels like stepping back in time.
