If you’re looking to swim, look elsewhere. They’ve closed 2 local pools to open this but there is always events on so you can never swim. Prioritising money from events over allowing the community to use the facilities. Walked myself and 4 children here, for the lady on the desk to be incredibly rude saying “it does say it on the events page.” I tried to call beforehand but I couldn’t get through. Nobody thinks to check the events page, we check the swimming timetable.
Superb swimming facility with Olympic quality of pool and diving boards! However the showering units are a bit old and changing areas are mixed.
The centre itself is modern, stylish and looks great. The gym on the other hand is such a letdown. It is far too small, much of the equipment is just repeated around the room and trying to get on a machine in the evenings is sometimes just impossible. The changing rooms are OK but showers need a good clean.
I’m really disappointed with my experience at Sandwell Aquatics Centre. The biggest issue is that even when you pay for a membership, you are not guaranteed a place to swim. Every visit seems to come with a different problem — one day you’re told there’s no space, the next day you can’t enter because there are no wristbands available. On top of that, there seems to be very poor communication about competition times and pool closures. Why can’t members receive an email or message in advance to let us know when the pool will be unavailable? We are still paying monthly membership fees while the centre appears to prioritise extra classes and sessions, leaving regular members unable to use the facilities. What’s the point of paying around £60 a month if members still can’t reliably use the facilities? The whole system feels disorganised and unfair to paying customers. To make matters worse, the reception staff were extremely rude. One receptionist even said, “Just because you have a membership doesn’t mean you’ll get a chance to swim every day.” That attitude towards members is unacceptable. Overall, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing, and I’ll happily be cancelling my membership.
Very nice diving pool for a competition. Comfortable & plentiful seats. Just a shame the cafe closed so early, by 4pm & our event didn’t finish until 8pm
