An wonderful little exhibit with an amazing story. Very much worth the visit (and the entrance fee!). If you're in Margate, go! Nice shop, too.

Well worth a visit. The grotto is divided into sections starting with a lovely gift shop, an education display which then leads to the grotto itself. Helpful and friendly staff were on hand.

An amazing place. Found quite by chance on a day visit to Margate. Staff are friendly. The Grotto itself is an incredible space.... Lovely gift shop with something for everyone.

Amazing place, apparently discovered in 1835, but who constructed the grotto is a complete mystery Shells all seem to be local, like whelks, cockles, limpets, winkles, oysters, scallops etc, millions of them used to create the patterns on the walls. Mind boggling! Only takes 15 minutes or so to see, but well worth the walk from the station. Friendly staff, a decent gift shop, a visit to remember!
