Disappointing. The head has been damaged and to prevent people going inside the mouth entrance has been boarded up. After many years the damage could be expected but maps/leaflets/guides should have reflected this. Many, clearly recent leaflets show the head in its original condition. To be fair I should have checked reviews here before setting of from Keilder. However the walk is easy with good views in places. The head itself is not worth a visit.

Always stop here when circumnav igating the 26 miles around kielder, the heed is a bit bashed about now but I think it adds to the drama of it

Gorgeous walk along side kielder water The statue is somewhat creepy 😂 it seems like it’s taken a beating over the years but it’s still a good walk and interesting photo op!

Amazing sculpture in a beautiful scenic setting! Still showing storm damage signs, but doesn't detract from the sights and smells of nature.

A beautiful wooden head at the end of an over 2 mile walk/ride. A wonder walk to get there from Kielder Castle, signal is a bit sketchy at points so plan ahead for this. It has beautiful views along the track and is worth the walk, exhibit is currently closed due to downed trees. It is only blocked off by a small plastic guard rail so if entering do at your own risk
