Swanage Beach is a great family beach. Clean sand, safe water, and a fantastic atmosphere make it a great place to spend the day. I visited on the opening Saturday of Swanage Carnival and it was brilliant. The whole seafront had a real family feel, with plenty going on for everyone. The evening finished with an incredible fireworks display over the bay.
Been coming to this beach my whole life. I love the summer carnival and the sauna here. There has been a bad seaweed bloom this year, but if yout happy to wade through it the sea is good as it usually is. Went with friends to do outside yoga in the park above the beach and then we saunered and cooled off in sea/outdoor shower. If your planning a day trop there do, it's cute shops, delicious choco chocltier and lovely eateries a plenty 😋
English A wonderful beach that is truly the heart of Swanage. Wide, sandy, and beautifully maintained, it's perfect for families, relaxing by the sea, or enjoying a long walk along the coast. Even on busier days, there's plenty of space to sit back and take in the stunning views. With cafés, restaurants, and local attractions just a short walk away, it's an excellent place to spend the entire day.
A long sandy beach in a bay. Swim by the lifeguard tower for extra safety but the bay makes swimming pretty safe. The far end of the beach ends and the quayside walkway starts with the cellar bar at the Mowlem theatre. This is a personal favourite for an evening drink with a great view, before the short journey to one on the lovely restaurants and pubs in town. There's also a good collection of shops and cafes at the town end of the beach, along with some nice antique shops.
Swanage Beach is a really lovely, compact spot with a great pier. Everything you need is right there and close together—cafes, toilets, the sand, and the sea.We visited with our kids in May. It is probably not the best spot for swimming as there was quite a lot of seaweed near the shore, and the water was very cold! However, the water gets reasonably clean if you wade out a bit deeper. The sand here is a unique dark grey color.Despite the chilly water, I thoroughly enjoyed sunbathing with a coffee and a delicious cherry amaretto ice cream from the local cafe, which has a fantastic variety of flavors. The open shower on the beach is a great touch for rinsing off salt and sand. There is also a nice mini-golf course right in front of the beach, so there are plenty of things to keep the kids entertained. Definitely worth a visit! That said, if you prefer golden yellow sand and crystal-clear deep water, Bournemouth might be a better match for you.
