Explore an award-winning coastal park featuring the south east's largest free adventure playground, scenic walking paths, and summer events in three distinct recreational zones.

The Lower Leas Coastal Park is a linear award-winning park stretching between Folkestone and Sandgate, offering families exceptional recreational opportunities along the Kent coast. The park has won the prestigious Green Flag Award every year since 2007, recognizing its quality as a green space. Families can enjoy the south east's largest free adventure playground, designed for inclusive play with wheelchair accessibility and low-level play panels suitable for all ages. The park features three distinct zones: the wild zone with informal recreation and wildlife habitat, the fun zone centered around the playground and 350-seat amphitheatre, and the formal zone with traditional horticultural plantings. Additional attractions include a labyrinth, public art installations, picnic areas, a cafe, and access to the national cycle route. The park hosts events throughout summer including concerts, children's workshops, and drama performances. Its unique microclimate supports rare wildlife including migrating birds and insects found nowhere else in the UK. Safety features include lighting, CCTV, and regular warden patrols during busy periods. Dogs are welcome on leads in designated areas, and the venue is pushchair-friendly, making it accessible for families with young children. Free entry and ample parking make it an ideal destination for a full day of outdoor family activities.

A nice place to go with lovely views, easy access to the beach. Wheelchair/pushchair friendly. Flower borders looked very nice. Play ground areas were smaller than I expected. Toilets each end and in the middle of park. Parking is very expensive!

Awesome park! It is not very large but it is a little slice of heaven. A very good scenic area with lovely thoughtfully designed garden, which looks very pleasant even in the winter; amazing views out to the choppy ocean waves; well-maintained, wheelchair and pushchair friendly paths but bikes allowed as well and can be tricky as a lot push-bikers expect you to have eyes on your back. Ideal place for dogs walk along the seafront! Not cheap, but car park available.

Well maintained park with a network of clearly marked footpaths, family friendly play areas and coastal views over the English Channel. Plenty of benches, toilet facilities and easy access from nearby paid parking areas make it a convenient green place to spend some time amongst green space. It's also accessible from the upper Leas via unusual landscaped cliff paths, with grottos built into the false Pulhamite "rock". The park leads out to a beach side promenade, passing brightly coloured beach huts and art installations before arriving at Folkestone Harbour, home to a striking modern apartment building and a selection of cafés and bars.

A lovely path along the coast. It has a nice picnic area with a beautiful garden. It offers scenic views as the water peeks through the trees. Although, some of the steps were closed therefore you might find yourself walking a little further before you can find access to the top. We love the idea that you have options to walk right along the pebbles on the beach, or by the concrete path, or through the linear park lined with trees such as pines.
