We were fortunate enough to have a private tour with Alison and it was delightful. A very culturally rich castle with lots of fascinating history. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.
Super enjoyed this historical castle. Wonderful gardens. Everyone is very friendly, it’s a definite to do if you’re in Tiverton. Thank you
A definite "Must See" if you're in central Devon. The Castle is open April -October, on Sundays, Thursdays and Bank Holidays from 2.30pm -5.30pm. A fascinating building, with centuries of history, dating back to 1106. There is a Civil War weaponry room, and you can even try on some authentic armour. The rooms are beautifully displayed, with fascinating information boards written in a somewhat irreverent style, which is very refreshing as well as informative. The room stewards are hugely knowledgeable, and you find yourself being drawn in to even the most gory historical facts! The rooms feature castle history from medieval to WW1. The gardens are beautiful, and well worth a visit. A gem in the heart of Tiverton.
This is a beautiful location, both inside and outside. The gardens are spectacular, and the castle itself is fantasticly maintained. Steeped in history, and even a few physical artifacts to interact with directly. I recommend this spot to anyone interested in history that's well explained and understood!
What wonderful setting. We were welcomed in by the owner and allowed to look around at our own pace, taking in as much information as we could from well detailed notes, the gardens have so much to offer including wildlife. With so much historic interest made this a great afternoon.
