Cracking little zoo that’s really reasonably priced. Keeper talks are really informative and the animal encounter was great. We had a great time and spent a good 4/5 hours here. The only piece of feedback I would offer is to get a small portable speaker and mic for the talks. Lots of really interesting information, but sometimes hard to hear.
We had a wonderful visit and were genuinely impressed by how well the animals are cared for. It’s clear that their welfare is a top priority. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and patient with the children, happily answering all of their many questions. A special thank you to Jess and Sam for making the experience even more memorable. My daughter and her friend absolutely loved their day and have already asked when they can come back! We couldn’t recommend this zoo more highly and will definitely be visiting again.
We booked an experience for our daughters 11th birthday and attended 12th July. She had the best time ever. Honestly for the price and how many animals she got to meet it has to be the best value animal experience ever. The guide Sam I believe, was so knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly patient with the kids. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend it enough, we travelled 1 HR 50 mins ISH and it was well worth it. As well as a large selection of animals they also have huge wooden pirate ships to play and explore, castle/fort playground with slide and zip line, cafe, indoor play area, picnic tables, coin operated kiddie cars, gift shop. Just in case anyone finds it useful the site is pretty much flat, has a disabled toilet, large on site car parking and we found it really easy to keep popping back to the car for bits and pieces we needed. No need to book in advance. We'll be back. X
We visited here today as a family with two children under the age of four and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The park felt very clean and well looked after, the tickets felt very reasonable compared to similar parks and we visited today for £45. Good variety of animals and plenty of talks and interaction with the park keepers which would be good for older children and adults, also plenty of areas to play for the smaller ones. All of the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the park and surrounding areas, if you're in the area and looking for a family day out I would definitely recommend checking it out!
From the outside you may think it is cold war leftover but in fact a building steeped in history (more later) It is quite a good place to bring children as inside there are quite a large area for reptiles, nocturnal animals and aquarium. Outside there is a good selection of animals in a large outside area. There are plenty of areas for a picnic and seating if needed. A decent cafe offering hot food/drinks as well as ice creams and cold drinks. This used to be a BBC broadcasting building back in the 1930's so as mentioned don't let the entrance put you off.
