Lovely clean beach with nice clean water and sand. One of the better beaches in UK. Not very big but pleasant with great walks nearby as well as a contemporary pub ideal for food and drink. Beautiful place to see the sunset. Not much parking but if you park near the pub it's a very short walk down to the beach. Will be visiting again as its not a busy crowded beach. Well recommended and will need to try out the walks next time round.
A wonderful walk from Margate Station, along the promenade and below the cliff the walk is a bit longer (6km) but from above along the cliff path it's a bit shorter (5km). We enjoyed the cliff views and the wildflower meadows along the way. At the beach there is a coffee truck and ice-cream truck, but no food as far as I could see so bring your own. There is a pub just next to Botany Bay called, creatively, The Botany Bay, in case you want some fish and chips, pizza or burgers. Good quality food. At the beach, it is sandy, however, getting into the water is so so tricky, since the waters edge conceals chalk stones beneath and it's painful and dangerous to get into the water. You can cut your feet or twist an ankle. That part was not fun. But a lovely beach regardless, with stunning views of the chalk cliffs.
Botany Bay Beach is a fantastic spot and easily deserves 5 stars. The beach is generally quiet and not overly crowded, making it perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. The sandy beach is clean and well maintained, and the water is clear, which adds to the overall appeal. A great bonus is the free parking available at Palm Bay, which is around a 15-minute walk from the beach. There are approximately 200 spaces available, although they can fill up during busy periods. Additional parking is available closer to the beach, but this is chargeable. The beach itself is clean and welcoming, with plenty of lifeguards on duty, providing extra peace of mind for families and swimmers. There are also a few cafés nearby for refreshments, along with convenient toilet facilities. Overall, Botany Bay is a beautiful, well-kept beach with excellent facilities and a more peaceful atmosphere than many other seaside destinations. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing day at the coast.
Botany Bay is absolutely stunning the cliffs are just wow! It’s fascinating to see how naturally these cliffs have formed over time. What really amazed us was seeing names written high up on the cliffs it makes you wonder when and how people managed to do that, especially since they’re so far out of reach. It almost feels historic! We visited in the evening when the sea was starting to come in, but you can tell the tides are much stronger in the morning the cliffs were very wet and the water level must rise quite high. It’s a sandy beach, perfect for families. If you’re going with kids, don’t forget to bring sandcastle toys they’ll love it! You can easily spend hours here, whether relaxing, walking along the coast, or just enjoying the views. Even pets will have a great time. Access is easy not steep at all, just a few steps down to the beach, which makes it very convenient. Facilities are good too, with toilets available and parking nearby. No shops nearby.
Pretty beach with outcrops of very photogenic chalk columns. There are toilets part way down the steps. A snackbar in high season. Large bins at the top. The Botany Bay pub is huge and sits on an unmade section of road( which has a private parking area behind)
