We had a week's accommodation within the castle which was very pleasant. There's a separate entrance and car park for residents. The restaurant supplies very nice food and there are other good restaurants close by. It also provides a good base for exploring this area of Wales.

Stayed the weekend, lovely, quiet, lovely room, parking - if I had a gripe then it would be that the breakfast could be better.

We got to STAY in the castle, which was awesome, and also meant our breakfasts were included. The castle is located in a great spot, within walking distance of a park, several cute little shops, and a grocery store. We were in the top room of the castle, which came with two comfy beds (which we pushed together), and its own bathroom. It was a big spacious room, but we really only just slept there. The breakfast was a big, full, delicious breakfast. I went with the Castle Breakfast each morning. It came with bacon (theirs was kinda between ham and bacon for us in the US), a big sausage, a half a tomato, a big, buttery fungus (“field mushroom”), an egg, and a cup of beans. Oh, and a Lavercake. Can’t forget the Lavercake. This is a Welsh thing. It’s kind of a little ball of dense grains. Almost like a bran muffin, I guess. I like trying new things when I travel, and while the Lavercake wasn’t my favorite, I ate them every day, cause you can’t get them in the US (not that I’ve ever seen, anyway). The meats, egg, and fungus were all delicious. And seriously, that tomato was excellent. I definitely didn’t expect to enjoy a TOMATO with my breakfast as much as I enjoyed this one, but no joke, it was really good. My wife isn’t big on the breakfast meats, so she opted for the Castle Veggie Breakfast. She liked it a lot. One of the days, we tried the French Toast, and that was really good too. The breakfasts also came with access to a variety of croissants, juices, honey and jellys. Oh, and the view out the restaurant window was gorgeous. We watched the sunrise on the other side of the river. For guests staying at the castle, there’s a gated parking area in the back. There’s also a pretty park area you can walk around, and lots of other interesting places to explore. Unfortunately, the museum part of the castle itself was closed when we stayed there, but we still had a great time and would absolutely recommend a Cardigan Castle. The food was excellent, the staff and service were extremely friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved everything about the Cardigan Castle, and would absolutely recommend visiting if you are ever fortunate enough to be in Cardigan.

Really interesting visit to the castle. It’s small enough to not feel overwhelmed with historical information, simple enough to take it - good value at £8. The gardens are beautiful and I especially liked the kitchen garden full of autumnal produce. The cafe is a nice way to finish the visit. All in all it took about 2 hours in total. I am fascinated by Miss Barbara Woods story and her sad ending. I am so sad she ended up in a paupers grave and that the council chose not to fund a headstone for her. I think given her connection to the castle and Cardigan her life should be celebrated.

An interesting journey through the evolution of a castle from 12th Century fortress to 20th Century home. Quite fascinating. The gardens are well maintained and a pleasant spot to take a break. There is no parking in the castle but plenty within a 5-10 minute walk, including on street parking right outside. The cafe is good.
