Free to visit. Great castle ruins, but limited parking nearby. Dog friendly and plenty of space. Great views and a few information boards to tell you more about the castle. Great place to stop for an hour or two.
A totally Free place to visit, only small car park a little way from castle, but a 5 minute walk and you arrive at a beautiful ruin of a Bishops castle/palace. A few information boards dotted around. Very interesting, and could not believe it's free, and only one other small group enjoying the grounds, wish I had bought a picnic, could have stayed there for a few hours to soaking up the atmosphere. On the way back to the car park there is a gate that takes you into a small garden and this has picnic tables. One of Wales's hidden gems. Incorporate this with a trip to the country park and reservoir.
This ruined castle is a hidden gem. There is no on site presence and we didn't see another soul in the entire wonderful hour we spent here. There is so much to explore and the grounds are neatly kept to enable that. Views from the turrets are spectacular. Just two noticeboards give some information about the site, building and history. No entry fee, no parking fee, no gift shop. Amazing.
A very peaceful location for this 13th century ruin with beautiful views. Would be a great place for a picnic on a sunny day. Free entry with a small car park near by in the village. Closes at 4pm.
We were stuck for things to do the weekend after New Year; everything seemed to be closed. This place we found was open and free to enter. I was not expecting much for that reason. But it was more substantial, with a lot to explore and a tower to climb with fantastic views of the Preseli Mountains. Worth the short diversion.
