Colwyn Bay is one of North Wales' iconic Victorian seaside resorts, featuring a generous stretch of fine golden sand backed by a seawall and promenade. As a regular Blue Flag award-winner, the beach offers excellent water quality and extensive facilities. The resort has undergone significant waterfront rejuvenation, including major sea-defence works and beach nourishment that have created a wider and more attractive shoreline than previously existed. At the heart of the modern seafront lies Porth Eirias, a contemporary development serving as the centrepiece of the resort. This facility provides watersports opportunities including sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and jet-skiing, alongside an outdoor children's play area, restaurant, café, and bar overlooking the bay. The recently restored Victoria Pier, retaining ornate metalwork from the original turn-of-the-century structure, adds to the classic seaside charm. The three-mile stretch of unbroken coastline, extending towards neighbouring Rhos-on-Sea, is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and family beach days. The wide, largely level promenade is excellent for walking and cycling along National Cycle Route 5. Away from the shore, Eirias Park offers extensive green space and sports facilities, while the Welsh Mountain Zoo on the hillside above provides impressive views and major family attractions. The beach is dog-friendly in designated areas year-round, and accessibility features including ramped access, Blue Badge parking, and seasonal beach-access matting make it welcoming for all visitors.

Wide soft sandy beach with clean water good for swimming. There's seaweed when tide is down. Parking is free after 4 pm.

Lovely sandy beach, my only critisisms are having to run really quickly to find toilets that are open and not out of order is espicially hard with little ones otherwise a fantastic place which is definetley worth a visit. Make sure little ones have beach shoes as alot of shells and somr broken shells which cut little feet. We also played crazy golf along the promenade which was fun. Absolutley beautiful place otherwise

Enjoyed my time here on this lovely sunny warm Friday. It is a dog friendly beach and on the whole is a clean area. I only had to step over 1 small dog poop. Lots of dogs with their owers everywhere and all dogs seemed happy and well handled. At the time of writing this...road side parking at the beach for a 2hr stay is only £2.40 and free after 4pm. I will definitely be returning.

One of my favourite beaches. Nice and clean. Fresh air. Good coastal walk. Pay and display car parking close by. I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Colwyn is a stunning beach! Fantastic golden sand that stretches for ages, brilliant new promenade to walk as part of the Wales costal path, beautifully flat with little things along the way to read and see. A great place for all ages to spend the day walking and playing. Lots of dog walkers out too.
