Denbigh Castle is one of the most impressive castle ruins in North Wales and a great place if you enjoy history and views. It was built in the late 1200s by King Edward I after the English conquest of Wales and was designed as both a strong military fortress and a symbol of power. The castle stood in an important position above the town and was protected by large walls and impressive defences. Over the years it was damaged during wars, including the English Civil War, and was never fully rebuilt, which is why today it remains as a dramatic ruin. Inside the castle you can walk through the remains of towers, walls and open courtyards and imagine what life was like hundreds of years ago. One of the highlights is the huge gatehouse, which still looks impressive and shows how well protected the castle once was. There are information boards around the site explaining the history, and from the walls you get lovely views across Denbigh and the surrounding countryside. There is a small visitor reception area with information and a shop where you can buy souvenirs, books and gifts. There is not a full café inside the castle itself, but there are cafés and places to eat nearby in the town centre. Overall, Denbigh Castle is easy to explore, full of history and one of those places that feels even more dramatic because it is left as a ruin rather than restored. Entry cost only a few quid and there is car parks around the castle nearby.

Beautiful castle, built in 1282. It's a nice place to visit, we didn't get chance to view the whole castle but was good to see this old castle, great time with the family

What s great place to visit. Only just over £6 per person. Not like whitby Abbey total rip off. Nice little carpark and welcome from staff when walking in . Little gift shop. Clean loos. Possibly the warmest loo i ever been in. Bought a gide book well worth it as full of lots information. It was clean well kept. Interesting. Only thing I would like to see is the well cleaned out. Be great to see water in the bottom instead of rubbish. I recommen going and having a look.

Lovely castle to visit. Sat on top of a hill on the outskirts of Denbigh with amazing views. There is a very small carpark but I'd advise parking in town and walking if you are able. It took about 30 minutes to walk around the castle and read the info boards. You can get a key to access the town walls at the castle as well but I didn't on this occasion.

Lovely castle high up so get excellent views of the countryside and town . Some of the wall still survives that surrounded the town. Friendly staff. Free carpark. Shop and toilets. Well worth a visit .
