Absolutely stunning place to visit! The dramatic cliffside location and breathtaking coastal views make Dunluce Castle unforgettable. The castle is full of history, and the ruins are beautifully preserved. It’s well worth a visit if you’re exploring Northern Ireland. Highly recommended!

An absolute top location in the area, Dunluce Castle is a dramatic medieval castle perched on the edge of basalt cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, dating mainly from the 13th and 16th centuries. It was the stronghold of the powerful MacDonnell clan and is famous for its spectacular setting and turbulent history. According to legend, part of the castle’s kitchen collapsed into the sea during a storm in 1639, taking several servants with it. Its striking ruins also inspired Castle Greyjoy in Game of Thrones and are considered one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic landmarks.

Fun castle to visit that was a filming location for Game of Thrones. Fantastic views. Very close to Giants Causeway so great to do on the same day and then go for lunch at The Fullerton Arms in Ballintoy.

Absolutely recommend visiting here if you’re near giant’s causeway or on your way to Portrush. An incredible wealth of history is here for you to see, and there are many plaques and notices to help you understand the incredible history. Staff are very friendly and helpful and supply you with a map to help you explore. Toilets on site are clean and conveniently close to the entrance. I also highly recommend visiting the “Discovery room”, where you can not only watch an entertaining educational video on the history of Dunluce Castle, but you can also peruse the artefacts they have on display, which also come with great annotations to explain what they are. Views of the sea and coast from the castle are amazing and parking is excellent.

Although it's pretty much a ruin it was great to still walk around what was quite a large castle in its hey day. Stunning views across the Atlantic and coast. Well worth a visit and admission was very reasonable. Quick to get in as it was not busy at the time. Visit as part of an organised coach tour.
