Become a Family MemberReview is of the Canteen only, we haven't used the other facilities. Been visiting Lost Shore Canteen since it opened, the food has become progressively worse. Most recently we used the pizza and taco options. Civerinos used to be amazing but last 2 visits, the fries and dough balls have been far too salty. Cheese and tomato pizza slice had barely any toppings on it and was very crunchy, think overly cooked wrap with a sprinkling of cheese and tomato, dry and tasteless. Lost Taco was also very disappointing, burrito is tiny, 2 small wraps which would pass for a starter in many restaurants. Soggy and tasteless. Nachos with beef were completely bland. Plenty of pulled beef on top but very little guacamole and jalapenos. Nachos below the topping were dry and flavourless. It's a shame as it has the potential to be a huge hit not only with those visiting the resort for surfing but also with the residents of Ratho and East Calder in close proximity. Bar staff were lovely, can't fault them but those in Lost Taco didn't seem overly interested when we told them that they had mixed the meat options up on the dishes myself and my husband ordered. They did remake them but sent the bar staff over to apologise. Bland tasteless food. Unfortunately don't think we will be back.
I've been learning here the past year and the instruction is great. Consistent waves helps compared to the ocean as well. Facilities and equipment are great. Liked the 20" pizza! I stayed in a two person pod on the water. It was lovely. The only downside is it's not the cheapest place so I can't afford to go as much as I would like.
Went for a beginner surfing lesson and had a great experience. The facilities are top notch. My instructor was Tamsin and she was amazing, knew her stuff and was super helpful. All equipment was provided, hat, gloves, boots, wetsuit and board. And they all kept me warm during the lesson in the middle of December. The changing rooms are clean and warm. Lockers are provided, no money required as you set a code. The showers are warm as well. And a hairdryer is provided free of charge. The restaurant choice is also great for afterwards.
Absolutely love this place! Have been down quite a lot since it opened last year. Great accommodation, food and all round ace vibes. Have just recently attended 2 of the surfing weekends to help me progress with my surfing. Each of the coaches have been amazing, encouraging and put my mind at ease when I lacked confidence in my ability. Safe to say I have progressed a lot. Opportunity to meet like minded people when I’ve came down myself. Iain, Kieran, Gavin and Lee ! Thanks for all your help can’t wait for the next one In November.
Soooo good on all levels. Such a beautiful setting, super modern but cozy style, superb food and the best surfpool we have in Europe. A noticeable improvement compared to Bristol which is one of the better ones already! Nice changing rooms and warm showers, and soo many different wave settings. And trust me there are really fun and challenging waves for advanced surfers. And pricing much more realistic than at some other pools (similar to many standing waves and much cheaper than Munich for example). Happy kiddo leaving and definitely coming back soon!
