Visited on a rather cool, rainy fall day, but the pier was still lovely. Great views back to Penarth seafront; fun to watch the people fishing (despite signage…)
Well worth a slight diversion if you're walking the coastal path and heading to Cardiff... stop off here firest for a look around. A well preserved and attractive pier, in a great location, perfect soot to chill or something rest bite before pressing on along the coast!
I attended a evening wedding reception and was very impressed with the setup. Multileveled building so be warned if you aren't able bodied because whilst toilets are on the ground floor, we used the 1st and second floor due to it being busy and the stair case is steep and narrow. Staff were excellent and the food was superb. Alcohol prices were very competitive. Special feature is that they close off access to the pier for private events so we all had the pier to ourselves. Parking can be difficult and is limited to two hours however, after 7pm you can park all evening.
We have loved the pier for a long time, coming here for walks, coffee, events and the cinema. But it now holds an even dearer place in our hearts as we had our wedding ceremony here. Everything ran really smoothly and the staff were so lovely, even giving us a card to congratulate us. The space is stunning and so many of our guests commented on what an unexpected gem it is.
Penarth Pier Pavilion is one of those places that looks good in photos but is actually better in person. The walk out along the pier is calm and unforced, and the view changes subtly depending on the weather and time of day. What makes it worth visiting is the balance between structure and openness. You’re not rushed, there’s space to stop, and it works whether you come alone, with family, or just to clear your head. On a quiet day, it feels reflective. On a busier day, it still doesn’t feel crowded. It’s well maintained and easy to access, and the setting makes even a short visit feel intentional rather than incidental. Advice for visitors: • Best visited in the morning or early evening for light and calm. • Dress for wind, even on clear days. • Take your time walking back—most people rush the return and miss the view. • Works well as a short stop or as part of a longer coastal walk. A simple, well-kept place that rewards slowing down.
