Didn't know what to expect, collected a free map/ leaflet for 2 mile walk for the town that never was. Really enjoyed myself. A nice cafe halfway round, also coffee and cake at national trust shop. Local residents were lovely and chatty. Definitely will visit again

The remnants of the old alum works give the place a sense of deep history, and there’s a quiet beauty to its wild, open landscape. There aren’t many shops or cafes, but that’s part of its charm. It’s more about disconnecting, enjoying the fresh sea air, and soaking in Yorkshire’s natural beauty. A great place for walkers, photographers, and anyone looking to slow down and take in something special.

Walked here from Robin hood bay on the sinder track, stopped for a cheese scone and tea, and Walked back along the coastal path, perfect place for a refreshing stop.
