This is a bit of a pilgrimage for me! Wanted to see SwimTrek offices as one of their investors and take in a swim at the pool! Luckily it all came together and I couldn't be more pleased, this is about as refreshing a morning as one can imagine. Kudos to all those worked to make Sea Lanes, a great project and destination, happen.

We had a brilliant time at the Sea Lanes! It was our first time but the staff were super friendly and helpful and the changing room/shower facilities are amazing. We easily booked a whole lane for our group and then enjoyed delicious food and drink afterwards with the partnered cafe/bar. Tip: internet signal is terrible so make sure you use their wifi before ordering!

Booked a booth early in the morning for the early evening, arrived on time and there was a giant group in the booth, they claimed they had it booked till late so the waiter went back to the bar to check but never returned. The place is absolutely covered in bird poo, the wood where the stools are is in disgusting condition, the floor is horrific. Yes I know we’re in Brighton and seagulls are everywhere but I shouldn’t be expected to sit on a chair with poop, eat my food on a table covered in poop next to a wall covered in poop.

I'm a Brighton local and have been swimming in Sea Lanes a few times now over the past two years. The pool is in a beautiful setting, and it's great to have an outdoor pool available in Brighton. The water is cold, but I don't mind it! The pool itself always seems pretty clean. However, there is room for improvement. An easy solve would be fewer lanes, so they're wide enough for 2 people to comfortably swim in. I think I've been kicked by someone doing breast stroke every time I've been! And have to stop every time someone passes. I'm usually a slow lane swimmer, so tend to get a few people in there swimming socially and having a chat. I think it'd be ideal to have specific slots where social swimming is welcome in a dedicated wide lane, as it makes it harder to swim when people are moving slowly and chatting. The changing rooms work well with independent cubicles and plenty of showers. They always smells a bit toilet-y and like there's no air flow though. The price of a swim is on the steep side - I'd probably swim more often if one off prices were slightly lower. At the moment I'm only willing to pay nearly £12 every now and again. I think I'd come more if those pointers could be solved.

Very disappointing experience due to misleading advertising and poor communication. The swimming pool water is quite cold, and memberships come with a mandatory minimum term. On top of that, cancellations require at least 30 days’ notice, which is not clearly disclosed upfront. I saw an Instagram ad offering the current month for free. I messaged them to ask if there were any conditions, and I was told the only significant one was a minimum term of one month. No mention was made of the 30-day notice period. I went to the facilities to try them out, but they were closing and asked me to return the next day. I specifically asked if I could swim for free that month as advertised, and they confirmed this again, with no additional conditions mentioned. I couldn’t go the following day, but they later called me and we agreed I would come back, still with no further information disclosed. I am traveling in 10 days and simply wanted to try the pool once, with the intention of signing up properly when I return to Brighton. I prepared everything in advance, including bringing my wetsuit and assembling new fins. When I finally arrived, I was told that I would still have to pay for the following month even if I didn’t use the facility, because cancellations require 30 days’ notice. As a result, I couldn’t swim at all. This was extremely frustrating. The advertisement was misleading, and despite communicating with them multiple times across different channels, this crucial condition was never mentioned. A “free month” offer that still obliges you to pay for an additional month is not truly free. The views are nice when the weather is good, that’s the only positive aspect of my experience.
