Shoebury Common Beach is a lovely spot if you fancy some sea air without feeling like you’ve accidentally joined the entire population of Southend for the afternoon. It’s a great stretch of beach for a walk, with plenty of open space and lovely views across the estuary. There’s something wonderfully relaxing about strolling along the water’s edge, listening to the waves and pretending the increasingly strong sea breeze is “refreshing” rather than actively rearranging your hair. It’s also perfect for dogs, families or simply wandering along with absolutely no objective whatsoever. Although, as we’ve discovered, any seaside walk eventually develops an objective, and that objective is usually coffee, ice cream or fish and chips. We really enjoyed this part of the Southend coastline. It’s relaxed, spacious and a great place to escape the busier areas for a while. Just remember the golden rule of British beaches: however warm and sunny it looks when you leave the car, take another layer. The North Sea has a sense of humour.
Shoeburyness is a fantastic seaside destination that offers a perfect escape from the busy city. The beach is clean, spacious, and ideal for long walks, relaxing with family, or simply enjoying the fresh sea air. The views across the Thames Estuary are beautiful, especially during sunset. One of the best things about Shoeburyness is its peaceful atmosphere. Unlike some of the more crowded seaside towns, it feels calm and welcoming. There are plenty of open spaces for children to play, and the nearby parks and coastal paths make it great for a day out. Whether you're looking to relax by the water, enjoy a picnic, watch the waves, or spend quality time with family and friends, Shoeburyness is a wonderful place to visit. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing and enjoyable seaside experience.
Nice, quiet beach compared to the busier spots in Southend. Plenty of space to sit and relax, with lovely views out to sea. The beach itself is mostly shingle, but it’s clean and well kept. Parking is close by and there are toilets and a café nearby, which makes it convenient. Great for a peaceful walk or just sitting and watching the water. Not the best if you’re after sandy beaches, but perfect if you want somewhere calmer and less crowded.
It's nice, long and a bit windy! The cool thing about this beach is all the lights around and about. Typical seaside vibes with your nearby park, adventure island. Although the beach is kind of small (it's quite 'shallow') it's position and situation against the rest of the landscape really works in its favour so it forms part of a much greater whole.
It’s not the best of beaches. There’s a small sand/stone beach then about a mile of mud of the Thames estuary. Okay to see in your beach hut but not a lot else going on. If you have young kids you may be better heading further west towards Southend
