It's been over 25 years since I last set foot in this place and I was intrigued (and surprised) to learn that it had re-opened. I wanted to have a look out of curiosity and nostalgia so we took the grandchildren. I'll be honest: on arrival, it really didn't look good at all. I think it still looks pretty derelict with many empty buildings in a poor state of repair. But we spent about 5 hours there. The family seems lovely and I can see what they've done and what they're trying to do. There's a nice enchanted garden with an aviary for budgies and canaries. There are shire horses, donkeys, peacocks and other animals to see. The rabbits etc look well looked after and cared for and there's a lovely tortoise. The children spent a while in the play park and a good couple of hours in the soft play area. It's got a lot of charm and we had a nice day. It is clearly a work in progress with a lot of scope for development and I really hope that it succeeds. The kids enjoyed it and we will all return.

Many memories of this place 30 years ago. We visited today and could see how hard the family are working to restore the farm. Lots of activities for such a reasonable price. If you're looking for somewhere established like Woodlands, this isn't your place, but we had the same amount of enjoyment here today as when we paid over £100 elsewhere. The kids soft play was good, nice cafe area. Walked around to see all of the animals, lots of vintage carriages. All the animals are healthy and well cared for. Enjoyed the donkey talk and meeting the rabbits up close. Also spent ages in the inside games room!! Very enjoyable day, thank you, we will visit again

Tricky one this to review, as its a beloved business that thrived in the 80s and 90s and is a nostalgic childhood favourite for many of us that grew up in Devon/Cornwall as we visited as kids. I can see the potential is there, but the place is literally falling apart at the moment. Im so pleased its reopened, but its got a long way to go. This is reflected in the price, and as parents we know days out can be pricey, £3 per adult and £7.50 per child is very fair for whats on offer. Our kids are happy outside and we arrived at 11am and stayed all day till 4pm. The soft play is old and hazardous. One of our group fell through the mesh that had been repaired with cable ties. The tables are so close together that you can hardly move around in there. Having said that, the kids loved it. A decent coffee machine would be a good asset in here. Outside we found the animal enclosures to be in poor condition with a lot of pong and the animals looking a bit on the sad side. The horses were in good condition, but more shire horses would be great. The kids really enjoy the petting experience with the bunnies, and these animals seemed very well kept. The large indoor area with crazy golf and the toilets was severely flooded and there was a big jumble sale dump of clothes on one side which I dont think helps the vibe? All in all a work in progress with lots for the kids at a fair price, but still a long way to go (we visited last October and I couldn't spot any obvious improvements in that time period) My suggestions would be, Optimise seating lay out in soft play Renew the soft play, especially where old and broken Lose the jumble sale clothes Ice cream/coffee shack outside Better enclosures for outdoor animals/birds More shire horses Shire horse cart rides Improvements to the old and broken buildings and items scattered throughout the site Create a trail throughout for the kids to follow with things to look for I really want this business to thrive and improve so we can continue to enjoy it in the future. Thank you

Great to see the place open again. The small team are doing a fantastic job of getting the farm going again. Everyone couldn’t do enough for you and were really friendly. Something for everyone and the animals are all very obviously loved and cared for. We were there from opening until closing and our kids didn’t want to go. We will definitely return and look forward to seeing the plans come to fruition, making the Shire Horse Centre back into the thriving place it once was. Keep up the great work!
