Our visit to the zoo was thoroughly enjoyable for the most part. The animals appeared healthy and well looked after, and the overall atmosphere was calm and welcoming. Most enclosures offered plenty of space and enrichment, which we appreciated. However, we were deeply saddened and concerned by the condor’s enclosure. The bird was kept alone in a small, open-air cage. It was curled up on a branch and barely visible to visitors. For such a majestic creature, the enclosure felt entirely inadequate. Honestly, it makes me question why a condor needs to be kept in a zoo at all. Even if its presence is justified for species conservation, it should be provided with a significantly larger habitat. Seeing this magnificent bird isolated in such a cramped space left us with a very uncomfortable feeling. Aside from this critical aspect, the rest of our experience was very positive, and we would happily return—though we truly hope the zoo will reconsider and improve the living conditions for the condor.
Absolutely amazing place. Set in tilgate park this place is a real hidden gem. The park is huge and worth a visit alone but the zoo was as really excellent. It is set among some mature trees so good cover and the animals and staff are really excellent. Not expensive at all and the animals conservation is inspiring.
A small, well-kept park. We visited in July, during the day. Half the animals were hiding from the heat. So, if you’re hoping to see them all, don’t come here—you won’t... you’ll just see pictures and empty enclosures. The reason is the intense heat; everything suffers. Otherwise, it’s clean, tidy, and well-maintained. But I wouldn’t come back a second time. It’s boring...
Amazing, decent price so many animals, we got to feed the pigs, very quite and spacious lots of seating and benches
Such a beautiful day out especially for little ones. The price is super worth it and it was a lot bigger than I expected. It was a shame there were quite a few enclosures that were empty but the meerkats made up for it🤩. It’s even better that it’s located in a massive park with a lake that does boat hires (was unfortunately closed guessing due to weather not being very warm yet). We will definitely be visiting again in the summer. Also the lady who sold us our tickets was so lovely!!!
