Absolutely gorgeous place. I wasn't expecting to like it so much. Me and my family enjoyed half a day around there. The castle itself is part of the national heritage programme and it is not necessary to get in it. It's worth going in there though. There's a beach, which is quite big at low tide and lots of options to walk around the coast. Be prepared with comfy shoes for hiking.
Absolutely loved this place. We were amazed at how much area was covered with what used to be buildings. The views are amazing, some of the best we've seen in the UK. A statue of King Arthur stands tall near the edge of the cliffs. There are huge caves that you can explore when the tide is out. Steep, craggy steps lead you down to the sandy cove at the bottom of the cliffs. The cantilever bridge that connects the two parts is a work of art. Using original Cornish stone to create the walk way. There is a gift shop, a big car park nearby and there are toilets available. If you go in high season I would suggest buying tickets in advance as it can get really busy. Highly recommended. You won't be dissapointed!
I visited Tintagel Castle recently and it was an incredible experience. The cliff-top views are absolutely stunning, and the walk across the bridge to the island really adds to the atmosphere. The ruins are fairly limited, but the setting and sense of history more than make up for it. It can be quite windy and busy, but definitely worth the trip.
This was an exceptional place, full of mystery, very well planned out route so that you do not miss a thing. Well worth the visit. Only a 5 minute walk from the main car park though it is down a very steep hill but for those with mobility issues there is a paid shuttle bus to come back up the hill. I would recommend buying tickets in advanced as its saves you 15% and don't worry about the time slots, I feel that only applies in the height of summer.
Wow! Just Wow! The castle, the history and the view is breath taking! The beach, the bridge and the whole exsperience was worth every moment! There is a steep hill going down to the castle but they do have a car to bring people up and down if needed! The bridge is well maintained and secure.
