Really great experience here walking around the grounds very interesting... staff pleasent helpful and polite... toilets a bit dated but very clean... nice day out...

A lovely castle with good access for disabled visitors to the bailey, although the great tower is not accessible. Plenty of interesting features, with an audio tour accompanying them. Accessible toilets in the car park.

An excellent castle maintained by English Heritage. The castle is well preserved for its age. You can roam the castle grounds which have a good deal of information plaques. Then head inside to the castle proper. The star of the show has to be the grand hall, with it's huge windows leading to excellent views from all angles. When we visited, the Duke's rooms also had interesting talks on so keep an eye out! There is a lovely riverside walk to the Hermitage which takes about 20 minutes.

Warkworth was a delightful surprise during our tour down the Northumberland coast. We were immediately struck by the town’s charm - you’re welcomed by an ancient bridge and gatehouse before heading up through a beautiful village, all topped by an absolutely imposing medieval castle on the hill. For those traveling in larger vehicles, the car park at the castle is a huge plus. It is large enough to easily accommodate motorhomes and is very reasonably priced. Because we arrived later in the day, we didn't have enough time to explore the castle interior, but walking around the impressive exterior and down to the riverside was still a fantastic experience. The town itself is lovely, with a nice selection of local shops and a pub. It’s a wonderful spot to stretch your legs and soak in the history. If we’d had more time, we definitely would have toured the castle properly. Whether you have time to go inside or just want a scenic stopover, Warkworth is well worth the visit!

The visit to Warkworth Castle was a truly beautiful experience. I would highly recommend buying a guidebook as it provides additional information and reconstruction illustrations. At different locations I enjoyed reading the different characters’ perspectives as it gave me an idea of what Medieval life was like. The castle is very well preserved, you can even properly walk in some rooms and see impressive views. Also, the members of staff were very friendly (for example, a member of staff kindly helped a child find the final clue on Easter quest). I enjoyed it very much and will come back in Summer. Please, consider an annual English heritage membership as it is well worth it 👍
